Who We Are

Our top priority is helping Health Alliance Medicare members receive the best possible health care coverage through excellent health plans and service.

  • We received 4.5 out of 5 stars for our Medicare HMO and 4 out of 5 stars for our PPO plans in 2012 from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. (Plan performance summary star ratings are assessed each year and may change from one year to the next.)
  • Our members ranked us better than the national average for getting the care and prescriptions they need and for customer service in the most recent Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey.

History and Philosophy

Health Alliance Medicare is part of Health Alliance Medical Plans, which has been serving Illinois communities for more than 30 years. We've offered Medicare plans since 1997.

In addition to following state and federal regulatory guidelines to best serve our members, we strive to balance quality and cost to give our members the most for each dollar they spend on health care.

One of the best ways to keep health care costs in check is to make preventive care easy. Health Alliance Medicare offers a host of wellness extras at no extra cost.

  • Free Personal Health Coordination for members who qualify and need extra support because of chronic conditions or after a hospital stay.
  • Our quarterly House Calls newsletter for Medicare Advantage members. It features wellness information, healthy recipes and even spotlights members.
  • The DailyMed program helps members on multiple medications take the drugs they need safely by delivering presorted dosing packets to their homes.

Face to Face or on the Phone

We serve our members from the heart of Central Illinois. As a member, your call will be answered by a friendly and knowledgeable Health Alliance Medicare representative who works in Urbana, IL. To reach a local member services representative, call 1-888-382-9771 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. We can:

  • Answer your questions.
  • Sign you up for a Medicare informational seminar near you.
  • Arrange for a representative to visit you in your home.
  • Help you enroll over the phone.

If something comes up after our normal business hours, leave a message and we will return your call the next business day.

Our representatives are happy to meet with you if you're in the area. No need to make an appointment. Just stop in between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. We're located at 301 S. Vine St., Urbana, IL.

We Speak Your Language

If you are more comfortable speaking a language other than English, try our telephone translation service, Language Line. We provide access to interpreters who speak 140 different languages. Our Medicare members work with our dedicated customer service department known as Health Alliance Medicare Services. When you call our customer service line at 1-800-965-4022, your calls goes directly to a local representative who can provide fast, friendly assistance with:

  • General membership questions
  • Coverage concerns
  • Questions about doctors, specialist and facilities
  • Changing Primary Care Providers (HMO members)
  • ID cards
  • Address changes
  • Guidance on appeals
  • Authorization of care

Health Alliance Medicare members can also order ID cards and check the status of a claim on the Health Alliance website . Just log in as a member and see your options under Member Services.

Our dedicated Medicare Services department also hosts events that allow us to interact with our members. Here are some recent examples.
